The plane is resting in its' hanger and we have taken up residence once again on our boat.  It was an exciting two month journey, but "there is no place like home".  We enjoyed seeing how vast and uninhabited our country really is.

We had nice uneventful flight (except the heater quit working again - thankfully the sun was shining and it wasn't to cold outside the plane).  We were thrilled to be greeted at the airport by our friend Tim Rahn who arrived with two Patron frozen margarittas to celebrate our successful return from our journey!  Needless to say we were ready to be home!

Fuel and  Lunch stop in Athens... back to very warm weather.  We had to cross one line of bad weather on the trip from Traverse City Michigan to Athens Georgia.  We had a period where we were accumulating snow on the airplane.  Ready to get back to south florida weather patterns.

We spent a quiet day with Dave's Dad Jack and then met up with Barb for an evening at her family cottage on a charming lake.  Dave's brother Tim and wife Sue met us for a fabulous evening dining out under the stars.  It was a great family evening.

Finally, clear ski's for the entire route and a good tail wind.  Dave decided that the conditions were good for a non-stop flight all the way to Traverse City so we set off and 4 hours and 5 minutes later we landed with a total uneventful flight!  YEAH!

We were picked up at the airport by Dave's father Jack and Barb and taken out to the "Boathouse" restaurant for an wonderful dinner and great martinis.

Yellowstone National Park - Grand Teton National Park - Mount Rushmore National Park - Custer Park

Spent the morning fly fishing.  Dave caught some small rainbow trout.  We spent the afternoon touring all the geysers, mud pits and springs.  The were interesting but kind of eerie.  We got "geysered" out but were glad we checked the box because they are something to see.

We had another great weather day with warm sunshine overhead.  Driving through the Grand Tetons we stopped on Flats Lake where we had the perfect setting for the reflection of the Mountains on the lake.   Driving through the Grand Tetons was required to enter Yellowstone Park from the south.

Travel Log:  Kalispell to Jackson Hole WY

We departed Kalispell with beautiful weather for a mountain flying day.  This was the only flight of our journey that we have been able to take VFR.  We flew between mountain peeks for the entire trip to Jackson Hole.  We flew over Yellowstone and were overwhelmed with the view we had of the Grand Tetons.  We flew so close it felt like we could reach out and touch them.
